Rubber compensators

Rubber compensators are used for axial, side and angular feeds. They provide protection from sudden changes of pressure, reducing the internal stress of the installation, thermal stress and other physical movement. They also suppress noise and vibrations.

Depending upon the environment in which they are used  (the medium, temperature, pressure), and the dimensions and settings of the pipeline, it is essential to select the correct materials for the construction of rubber compensators. The popular materials used for sealing are:

  • EPDM (resistant to ozone, aging and weather conditions, hot water and steam, acids, alkalies, ketones, brake fluids based on glycoles, flame retardant hydraulic liquids of the HSC/HSD type ),
  • NBR (resistant to low temperatures, mineral oils, lubricants and fuels, propane, butane, petrol, imflamable hydraulic liquids of HSA, HSB and HSC types, light opal-wax oils and fuels for compression-ignition engines, oils from plants and animals, diluted acids and alkali in low temperatures and water in a specific temperature range [60-100°C]). It is characterized by high flexibility, limited permeability of gases and minor permanent deformation when squeezed)
  • CR (high chemical resistance to weathering, ozone and flames, mineral oils, cooling agents – e.g. freon and water in a special mixture).

Rubber compensators are made mainly from elastometric materials and depending on the needs –  reinforced with synthetic and stabilizing steel rings. The compensators have permanent and circular collars made of solid materials of the highest quality (e.g. carbon steel aluminum, stainless and acid-resistant steel).

Rubber compensators are used in water, heating, oil, chemical, gas, sanitary and air-conditioning installations. They are effective in the energy production sectors (water, heat and atomic power stations), construction industry, metallurgy, food, confectionery and stationery industries
